I love making chili because it allows me to get creative and add different things each time I make it. Including the type of cheese I top it with. And, of course, it's cheap and leaves plenty of leftovers.
Here’s a look at what I used in my most recent batch!
Ingredients:
Ground turkey
Black beans
Chili beans
One can of tomato sauce
Onions
Kale
Ground Cummin
Chilli Power
Lawry’s Seasoning
Directions:
Season ground turkey with Lawry’s and fry in skillet until brown.
Note: Vegetarin/vegan peeps, skip the above step. Add another can of beans and more veggies to the step below.
Add ground turkey to large pot with beans (drain and refill to reduce sodium, chopped onions, chopped kale, 2 teaspoons of ground cumin, 3 teaspoons of chili powder, tomato sauce and water (as needed)
Cook at a medium heat and stir every 3-5 minutes for about 25 minutes.
Add crackers, cheese or whatever you fancy.
Curl up on the couch and enjoy!
Cost: $17-20
