Thanksgiving is a week away. It happens to be my favorite holiday, mainly because of the myriad of food that is consumed. If you’re anything like me, your turkey and dressing cravings become premature around November, and you’re nearly salivating at the thought of sitting down for the annual feast. Well, a lot of restaurants are taking heed by coming up with Thanksgiving themed menu items. Since I’m a burger lover, I thought it’d only be appropriate to share with the you the places that are offering their rendition of Thanksgiving – on a bun.
Easy Slider – The Gobbler
Because I somewhat care about my health, I knew it’d be kind of crazy for me to try every item on this list. So I picked the smallest. And luckily, the saying ‘good things come in small packages’ holds up. The Gobbler from Easy Slider is made with turkey, cornbread dressing, gravy, and cranberry-jalapeno-pecan relish. That tiny slice of heaven on top is a piece of pecan pie. I took it off and threw it inside the sandwich to eat. Perfection.
Hopdoddy – Thanksgiving on a Bun
Hopdoddy is serving up a burger that comes with a bit of homework, that is, if you’re like me and never heard of turducken until like a month ago. For those of you who don’t know, turduken is is a dish consisting of a deboned chicken stuffed into a deboned duck, further stuffed into a deboned turkey. Hopdoddy is taking a Turduken patty, sitting it on top of fried green beans, and topping it with cranberry sauce.
High Fives – The Sandwich of the Month
Though this is technically not a burger, having eaten a holiday sandwich they’ve done in the past, I’m confident it deserves a spot on the list. High Fives, who obviously skipped the fancy name, rolled out a sammy with shredded milk braised turkey legs, fried onions and house aioli, on sourdough bread. And it’s served with a side of gravy. High Fives says it’s basically Ross from Friends’ Thanksgiving sandwich. Not much of a Friends person, but I’m sure that’s a good thing.
Snuffers– The Thanksgiving Turkey Burger
This grilled turkey burger is topped with dressing (I refuse to say stuffing), Swiss cheese, mayo, and of course cranberry sauce. Available until the end of November.
Are you brave enough to try any of these burgers?
